For me, the best part of this week was when we decided to combine the
two different groups for some ministry. Normally, groups like to stay
together. After all, that’s part of why most people go on a mission
trip; to bond with members of their own church. So, for morning
ministry, the groups have spent some time together. The significance of
this is that the group from Austin is older; the youngest of them is 30
and the oldest is 40+. It’s been really good to see the Austin group
break up and mingle with the high school kids from Venice, FL. I’ve
seen them spending time alone, talking, praying with them, and hugging
on them. It’s great to see the body coming together.
slot to pray and ask God what he wants us to do, then we go to it. This
week, we’ve been doing it a little differently. Everyday, we’ve spent
time in prayer in the morning asking God what he wants for us to do and
then trying to do it. I can see God working on the kids’ hearts and
tugging at them, asking them to give up the world and follow him.
Please join me in praying for his Spirit to pour out on this group.
As much as Mark is gonna brag on us, we oughta be fair: The Lindbergs have been a true blessing on this trip.
Mark’s leadership and spirit alongside Carla’s musical abilities (and cooking!) have brought Christ’s love, joy, peace, patience, and all the other good stuff into our midst in some very tangible and not-so-tangible ways. The two have given us a new sense of purpose on this trip and have helped not only the Choctaw, but our entire mission team, nearer to Jesus.
Then when you bring the kids into the picture, this turns into something else entirely: a family. To see the entire crew come down to join us on this trip and give us their love and support is something truly wonderful, not to mention that these kids are a blessing in themselves: at such a young age, it’s absolutely wonderful to see that Tori and Kaylie have already given not only their hearts but their lives to the Lord, and to see them working for Him when their lives have just begun gives me hope for the future Christians.
Mission trips are always great, but this has been something truly unique. Thank you so much for welcoming us into the Lindberg family, if only for one week.
